Our
Director and Accompanist
Barbara Wygal Lutz, Director
Since 1978 Barbara Wygal Lutz has been
involved in numerous artistic endeavors throughout the Greenbrier Valley.
Upon receiving her Bachelor of Music Education from West Virginia Wesleyan
College, she came to Lewisburg to work with the Greenbrier Valley Theatre.
In 1990, Mrs. Lutz helped establish the Greenbrier Valley Chorale, and has
since conducted the community choir in more than 50 concerts. Her work
with young people includes being guest conductor and clinician to various
choral groups, instructor of drama and music camps, and for the past
seventeen years, Director of Choral Music at Alleghany High School in
Virginia. In the fall of 2006, she begins her tenure as choral
director and piano lab instructor at Greenbrier East High School in
Greenbrier County, WV. Over
the years she has performed in or directed more than 20 musicals, including
The King and
I, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Company, The Music Man
and Annie,
and has appeared in many revues and benefits. She has studied with such
renowned conductors as Joseph Flummerfelt and Andrew Megill and in 1997,
Mrs. Lutz was selected by audition to participate in the prestigious
Professional Training Workshop directed by the late Robert Shaw in New
York.
She lives in Ronceverte, WV with her husband Joseph.
Teresa D. Bryant, Accompanist
Teresa D. Bryant
is the music specialist at Ronceverte Elementary School. Before coming to
Ronceverte Elementary, she taught music at Greenbrier East High School for
15 years. Mrs. Bryant was also responsible for the implementation and
instruction of the Orff/Koldy music program in the Covington, VA city school
system. Mrs. Bryant holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Education
from Radford University. She has been accompanist for all-regional choirs
for the Virginia Music Education Association State Convention; for Sally K.
Albrecht, Director of the West Virginia All-State Children’s Chorus; and for
Dr. James Litton, the retired Litton-Lodal Music Director and Conductor of
the American Boychoir. She has also accompanied vocal and instrumental
soloists. A student of Dr. Lloyd Zurbrigg, Mrs. Bryant conducted a studio
for private piano instruction while she was a student. She and her husband
Jeff are the parents of two sons, Nathaniel and Carrington.
